The Ifa in Berlin shows off the intelligent closet that also pays attention to design

After the air conditioning and washing machine, Lg goes to the electronics fair to present its latest creation featuring Deep ThinQ technology

It deodorizes garments and keeps them clean while eliminating germs and bacteria. It irons the creases on trousers, and delicately dries suits and shirts. Above all, it offers recommendations on how to treat garments based on the fabrics they are made of. And it is activated by voice.

No, this is not the latest discovery in washing machines or irons: the innovative “creation” we are talking about is a closet. A “smart” closet, so intelligent that it conquered center-stage at the Ifa in Berlin, the annual international electronics show held from August 31st to September 5th last year.

Styler ThinQ is the name of the new “creation” by Lg – a giant of world hi-tech – that enriches the collection of “innovative” closets from the Styler collection presented in late 2017: this marks the debut of TrueSteam technology, which sanitizes and deodorizes clothing. This time Lg technology has taken one step further.

The “heart” of the system is the Deep ThinQ artificial intelligence platform that makes it possible to activate the functions by vocal command.

The ThinQ is the first closet in the world based on artificial intelligence and the third “product” by Lg featuring the Deep ThinQ technology: the company began with an air conditioner and a washing machine.

Users need only say “Hi Lg” to activate the Styler ThinQ, to select and start a cleaning cycle and even to ask for advice on what wash cycle to choose depending on the fabric. When the platform is activated, the hanger moves as it sterilizes and smooths garments and removes unpleasant odors. The Pants Crease Care function removes wrinkles and keeps trousers well-pressed. There is also a Gentle Dry function, to dry delicate fabrics and avoid wrinkles and creases.

At the Ifa in Berlin, Lg also presented the Styler Mirror Glass, another closet from the collection that features TrueSteam technology, which is furthermore distinguished by its design: the mirrored doors make it easy to match to any style of furniture or interior.

«Lg is proud to be a pioneer in the field of garment care with products such as Styler, which feature avant-garde technology developed in-house», underscores Song Dae-hyun, president of Lg Electronics and Home Appliance & Air Solution Company. «We will continue to improve user ease and to offer solutions for everyday life with new characteristics based on new technologies».

This hi-tech company is focusing significantly on artificial intelligence, particularly in the area of smart homes, and many of its products, from ovens to refrigerators to dishwashers, are compatible with technology by “competitors”, such as Amazon’s Alexa system or the Google Assistant. The Deep ThinQ platform, explains Lg, is designed to give the devices a real “brain” that can actually understand and elaborate user needs and hence customize the functions to their fullest.
