Call for designers and creative professionals. What will the habitat be in the vehicles of tomorrow?

Initiative promoted by Tuc.technology – the innovative startup from the incubator at the Politecnico di Torino

“In these difficult times, we can prove that design brings people together even when they have to be apart”: this is the incipit for the announcement of the international competition that calls upon designers around the world to design new-generation vehicles. These vehicles must necessarily take into account the “distance” we will be forced to keep for who knows how long, in order to contain the spread of the Coronavirus.

In these difficult times, we can prove that design brings people together.

Like the competition dedicated to the airports of the future “Re-Imagine the Vehicle (with Tuc.technology)” seeks to stimulate creativity and to take advantage of this period of quarantine: “#StayAtHome but launch your ideas and design something beautiful for the world of mobility”, reads the organizers’ invitation.

This is the first time that Tuc.technology – an innovative start-up incubated at I3P, the incubator of the Politecnico di Torino, founded in 2018 by Ludovico Campana and Sergio Pininfarina – is organizing an international design competition with the purpose of reinventing the habitat of vehicles, relying on Tuc technology, a communication system between the electronic control unit and the internal components of the vehicle, from the dashboard to the seats. All in Usb mode: the Tuc connector is integrated into the individual components and connected to the power allows data connection between all the elements.

Everyone can design their own vehicle as if it were a space to inhabit.

The vehicle can be customized by integrating various typologies of components to make mobility a unique experience, specifically designed for each individual user. Indeed, everyone can design their own vehicle as if it were a space to inhabit and to furnish based on their personal requirements.

The competition is open to professionals, students, design lovers, inventors and creative professionals, to everyone who believes they have innovative ideas to present. The participants may submit their work individually or in groups.

“We expect to receive projects and ideas that will lead to new components. Tuc has already developed devices such as seats, displays and coffee-makers in collaboration with its partners. These are just some examples of components, but there are many other possibilities to explore”, reads the presentation of the competition, the jury of which includes – in addition to the leaders of the company in Turin and representatives of the automotive press – the architect and president of Mauto Benedetto Camerana, the entrepreneur and designer Giorgetto Giugiaro, the president of Pininfarina, Paolo Pininfarina, the car designer and head of Fca Heritage Roberto Giolito.

. Applicants may present their projects before May 30: the winner will be announced the first week of June, and will be given the opportunity to develop the virtual prototype of the project with team Tuc, and to present it during the “Tuc.technology World Premiere” event. A special showcase will be reserved at the Museo Nazionale dell’Automobile in Turin.
